Brian Hymel - Managing Member
Brian Hymel is the founder and manager of FSBI. Mr. Hymel has extensive experience in mortgage lending, real estate investing and real estate development. Mr. Hymel’s experience and knowledge in these fields affords him a valuable perspective with the development of FSBI. Mr. Hymel has been involved in real estate since 1995. He began his career in the real estate and mortgage business working for several retail and wholesale mortgage lenders and has since amassed a wealth of knowledge and experience through the establishment of his own real estate investing and mortgage interests. Mr. Hymel has been involved with over 1900 real estate transactions representing over $230 million in assets. This practical working knowledge has provided him the opportunity to learn much about the real estate industry, including working with real estate agents, investors, developers, lenders and consumers. Mr. Hymel’s desire to establish FSBI was sparked by his years of acquiring this valuable knowledge and experience.
Dr. Dinesh Patel - Board of Advisors
Dr. Dinesh Patel is a founding managing director of vSpring Capital. From 1999 to 2004 he was the Founder, Chairman, President & CEO of Ashni Naturaceuticals, Inc., a company that specializes in the research, development and marketing of clinically tested and patent-protected naturaceutical products. He currently holds 15 US Patents and Foreign Counterparts. Prior to vSpring, Dr. Patel was an active angel investor in over 20 biotech and technology companies. In 1999, Dr. Patel co-founded and was the Chairman of Salus Therapeutics, Inc., a biotechnology company focused on the research and development of nucleic acid-based therapeutics, including antisense and gene therapy drugs. From 1985 - 1999 Dr. Patel served as Co-Founder, Chairman of The Board of Directors and President & CEO of TheraTech, Inc., a biotechnology company which he took public and eventually sold for $350 million to Watson Pharmaceuticals.
Dr. Patel serves on several non-profit boards, and has won numerous awards including; 2006 Utah Technology Council Hall of Fame Inductee, 2006 Ellis Island Medal of Honor, US Small Business Administration’s Business Achiever Award, Scientific and Technology Award (State of Utah), Entrepreneur of the Year Award (Mountain West Venture Group) and Scientific and Technology Development Pioneer of Progress Award to name a few. He is also a charter member of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE). Dr. Patel served as co-chair of Governor Huntsman’s transition team and is currently on the board of the Utah Policy Partnership (UPP). He was recently appointed the Chairman of the USTAR Governing Authority board.
Born and raised in Zambia, Africa, Dr. Patel received his bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy at Gujarat University located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India his master’s degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and his Ph.D. in Physical Pharmacy from the University of Michigan. Dr. Patel led the firm’s investments in Altea Therapeutics, 15 Axial, Coherex, Exagen, Inflabloc, Numira, Lineagen, Protolex, Q Therapeutics, ZARS and Salus Therapeutics which was acquired by Genta (NASDAQ: GNTA) for $30 million.
Frank Suitter- Board of Advisors
Frank Suitter is a Salt Lake City attorney. Mr. Suitter graduated with honors from the University of Utah in 1964 with a Bachelors of Science in banking and finance. Three years later, he received his Juris Doctor degree with honors from George Washington University National Law Center, Washington, D.C.
Mr. Suitter has extensive government, financial and legal experience. From 1964 to 1967, he was employed as a financial analyst with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission in our nation’s capital. Mr. Suitter passed the Utah State Bar in 1968 and joined a Salt Lake City law firm. He was a founder of Suitter Axland in 1975. Presently, Frank Suitter Law Office, PLLC is of counsel to Suitter Axland, PLLC. Mr. Suitter’s emphasis is on government, corporate, business and banking law.
Mr. Suitter is a member of the Utah State Bar and the Salt Lake County Bar Association. He has been admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of Utah, the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States. Mr. Suitter is actively involved in civil, political, professional, and academic pursuits and is a member of the Board of Directors of Ally Bank and a member of Utah Community Board of Directors, Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Utah.
Michael Vanderhoof. - Board of Advisors
Michael Vanderhoof is Chairman of Cambria Asset Management, LLC and has broad experience as a private investor and as an investment banker, especially in the areas of capital formation and mergers and acquisitions. He has actively practiced in the private equity and investment business for over twenty years. During his career, he has led financing transactions that have collectively raised over $200 million for early stage private and public companies.
Mr. Vanderhoof has structured and overseen dozens of financings and public mergers and acquisitions transactions, including those involving Headwaters Incorporated (NYSE: HW), Prosoft Learning Corporation (NASDAQ: POSO), Auxilio, Inc. (OTCBB: AUXO), Imergent, Inc. (AMEX: IIG), and Bionovo, Inc. (NASDAQ: BNVI). Mr. Vanderhoof is currently a principal of Cambria Asset Management, LLC. Mr. Vanderhoof sits on the Board of Directors of Auxilio, Inc. and Bionovo, Inc. and has extensive experience with respect to financing, management and operations of emerging growth companies.
